We are currently live in a high demand society which forces us to live a dysfunctional and unbalance lifestyles. Our current “need-to-meet-a-deadline” way of living has essentially eliminated the elements of balance in our lives. We have been willfully obey social stigma by silently following a voice that relentlessly whispers in the back of our minds “the more you do, the better you are” “the more you own, the happier you are” or “success is defined by material accumulations”. As we are pursuing our ambition and careers, with the impression that it will give us a sense of satisfaction, excitement and happiness that we’ve always wanted it, all the while forgetting the feeling of a balanced life. The inner stillness, and inner silence, that has always been a part of our physiological make up, has gone missing, a distant memory, a place of mystery. Our mind is too occupied with our worldly ambitions. Our desire has gotten trapped with Maya (Sanskrit word for an illusion) and worldly temptations. In the end, we found ourselves feeling incomplete, empty with a deep sense of loneliness.
Our physiology requires us to live a balanced life. A balance between home life such as spending time with family and friends and fulfilling our careers is crucial to our existence. And, lastly, play and rest.
Work is important because it gives us a sense of ownership and responsibility, which is crucial for the development and the growth of our psychology. Ultimately, work gives us a sense of meaning and purpose in life which important for the growth of our psychology and a sense of self-usefulness.
And let not forget that we are a social creatures. Socializing is important because it gives our mind a sense of comparative reality which helps us to solidify our sense of ego and outlook in life, thus giving us a sense of belonging and meaning.
Lastly, let’s not forget about Play and Rest!!
Play is very important to the human psychology. Plays gives life to our heart, our liver and kidneys, thus, our soul. It is important for us regularly revitalize our heart, liver and kidneys. Plays invigorate and excites our soul. It gives our soul a life and a sense of freshness.
Lastly, we need to allow ourselves enough time to rest. Resting is important for our physiology because it provides the potential for our immune system to do its healing miracle so that our body and mind could restore it’s vitality and life.
Livings a balanced life is very important to our psychological health, emotional health and physical health. Balance is the key to succeed in living a joyful and meaningful life.
